Independent review publication

About Possible Loans

We are an independent editorial publication that reviews small-dollar loan products, cash advance apps, and payday loan alternatives for US borrowers. We do not sugarcoat ratings, and we do not take money to promote specific products.

Our mission

Small-dollar lending is one of the least transparent product categories in consumer finance. APRs are expressed in ways designed to obscure real costs. Marketing consistently omits critical eligibility conditions. And the people who most need honest information — borrowers with limited credit options, facing cash shortfalls — often have the least time to research.

Possible Loans exists to fix one piece of that problem: to give US borrowers accurate, unvarnished information about Possible Finance and the products it competes with, so they can make fully informed borrowing decisions.

We define "honest" the same way every time: if a product feature is a limitation, we say so. If an APR is high, we name the number. If a cheaper alternative exists, we link to it. If we are compensated by a partner, we disclose it — before the recommendation, not buried in footnotes.

Our editorial team

Possible Loans is run by a small independent editorial team with backgrounds in consumer finance journalism, regulatory research, and personal finance content. We do not publish individual bylines on review content, because the content reflects the team's collective research rather than a single author's opinion. Our methodology — what we checked, what sources we used, and how we arrived at ratings — is published separately and in full.

Why no individual bylines? Individual bylines in consumer finance publishing have become a vector for fake expertise — stock-photo "experts" with fabricated credentials appear across thousands of affiliate sites. We choose collective attribution with transparent methodology over individual bylines with unverifiable credentials. Our credibility comes from the quality and verifiability of the research, not from the name of a purported author.

Editorial independence

Possible Loans earns revenue through affiliate referral arrangements — when a reader applies for a product through one of our partner links, we may receive compensation from the lender or matching platform. This is disclosed at the top of every review page and in the footer of every page on this site.

Our editorial policies to protect independence:

  • Compensation does not influence ratings. Possible Finance's 3.2/5 rating reflects the product's actual characteristics, including its high APR. We do not adjust ratings based on advertiser status.
  • We recommend alternatives. Every review page links to cheaper competing products, even when those alternatives do not pay us referral fees.
  • We disclose APRs honestly. The APR range (65%–163%) is stated clearly on every page, not buried in footnotes.
  • We do not publish sponsored content disguised as editorial reviews. If content is paid for by an advertiser, it will be labeled "Sponsored" — this site currently has none.
  • We correct errors. If factual errors are found after publication, we correct them promptly and note the correction at the bottom of the affected page.
